Build income you control, so you can protect what matters most.

In this free training, I break down the exact system my wife Hayley and I used to remove single points of failure from our income — using YouTube as a tool, not a boss — while raising five kids and keeping our values first.

Without sponsors. Without virality. Without sacrificing your role at home.

Most men aren’t lazy. They’re doing exactly what they were taught to do — work hard, show up, provide, carry the load.

That was me.

My normal day used to start at 6am. I’d leave the house early, sit in traffic for 45 minutes just to go 3.5 miles in LA, spend the day working with clients, sometimes traveling across the country, and get home around 6pm. On paper, I was progressing. The income was solid. The career path made sense.

But I missed most of my daughter’s first year.

Not because I didn’t care. Because I thought that was what providing required.

I grew up watching my dad work two jobs — a full-time job with the state of California and part-time as a firefighter. He was reliable, respected, and almost never home before dinner. Hayley watched the same pattern growing up. Her mom was a nurse who sacrificed endless hours to provide, and her health still carries the cost of that season.

Nothing about our parents was wrong. They did what responsible adults do.

But when our first child was born, we felt the tension more clearly. We didn’t want absence to be the price of responsibility. We didn’t want our kids growing up with the same quiet understanding that “dad is just gone because that’s how it works.”

That was the question that started to shift everything:

Is the way I provide actually protecting what matters most?

The Real Problem Most Men Face

This isn’t about becoming a YouTuber. It’s not about building a personal brand. It’s not about chasing subscribers or trying to be interesting on the internet.

It’s about removing fragile systems from your life.

Depending on one employer is a single point of failure. Depending on sponsors is another. Depending on algorithms and trends you don’t control is another.

We learned that the hard way.

When Hayley’s channel took off, we stepped into the influencer world fully. Brand deals, six figures, constant growth. Eventually I left my corporate job and joined the business full time. From the outside, it looked like we had escaped the 9–5.

Inside, it felt unstable.

We were constantly reshooting brand content. Changing outfits because a sponsor wanted new angles. Negotiating deadlines. Checking analytics to see if views were high enough to justify the next rate. It felt like having dozens of small bosses instead of one big one.

Then 2020 hit, and most of that income disappeared almost overnight.

There was no warning. Just a reminder of how exposed we really were.

That moment forced us to reset. The issue wasn’t YouTube. The issue was relying on systems we didn’t control.

So we stopped chasing deals and started building something we owned.

One clear problem. One focused offer. One simple funnel. YouTube became the engine that brought the right people in, but the business itself was ours.

That shift changed everything.

We’re Doug and Hayley Johnson — husband and wife, parents of five, and co-founders of YouTubepreneur.

But none of that started with a master plan.

Eight years ago, I was working a traditional 9–5 in digital marketing. Agency life. Big clients. Good salary. Long hours. Hayley started filming YouTube videos at our kitchen table during nap times because she didn’t want to hand our daughter over to daycare and only see her at night.

At first, it wasn’t about building a brand. It was about building options.

Eventually, her channel grew enough that it replaced my income. I left my job and joined her full-time. From the outside, it looked like we had figured it out.

Inside, we were stretched thin.

Sponsors dictated our schedule. We reshot content because brands wanted different angles. We put on the same outfits multiple times to re-film edits. We checked analytics constantly because views determined rates. It felt like trading one boss for twenty.

When 2020 hit, most of that income disappeared almost overnight.

That was the wake-up call.

We made a decision that felt risky at the time: stop building an influencer career and start building a real business.

We burned through savings to invest in coaching and structure. We put $18,000 on a credit card trying to preserve cash while we rebuilt. It was tense. It wasn’t glamorous. There were real conversations about what would happen if it didn’t work.

Then we launched our first version of YouTubepreneur in 2019 with zero expectations.

We made $40,000 in the first week.

I still remember that feeling. Hayley didn’t even want to know the numbers because the stress had been so heavy. I tried not to say anything, but I couldn’t hide the relief.

It wasn’t about the money.

It was about proof.

Proof that we could build something stable. Something owned. Something that didn’t disappear when an algorithm shifted.

Since then, we’ve built a seven-figure business structured around our family — not the other way around. We film in the margins of real life. We homeschool. We work early mornings and nap times. We prioritize church, dinner, and presence.

We don’t rely on sponsors. We don’t rely on virality. We don’t chase trends.

We use YouTube as a distribution tool for a simple business model that solves one clear problem.

That’s what I’m going to show you.
